Hi All,
Just received two sets of rear bearings for my 400 from GTCP. Just for the
record, the original RIV bearings (no longer in production) do have some
crossovers to other (still in business) manufacturers.
The large bearing (RIV 6208) crosses to an SKF 6208-2RS1/C3HTS1. The SKF is a
completely sealed ball bearing and I think, better than the original which was
simply shielded on both sides. The smaller diameter roller bearing (inner race:
RIV 4DAAP, outer race with roller bearings: RIV 4DAAV) is replaced by a
Slovakia-made RPN NU2207ETNG (outer) and an RPN NU2207ETNG (center race). Don't
ask why the two pieces share the same numbers on the RPN bearing and not on the
RIV.
Anyhow, for those of you with the early cars, this is something you might want
to jot down for future reference. One other item of interest, somewhere in the
production run, Lamborghini changed to a wider version of the 6208. Bill Young
tells me this item is made of "unobtanium" and is very pricey (about
$180.00 per bearing). Here are dimensions for future reference of the early
(thinner) bearings:
The larger of the two bearings (the ball bearing) is .710 inches wide, 1.575
inches ID, and 3.160 inches OD.
The smaller of the two bearings (the roller bearing) is .904 inches wide, 1.380
inches ID, and 2.835 inches OD.
I made the measurements with a stainless dial caliper so I believe the numbers
are pretty close.
Best Regards,
Jack
